Here's a friendly reminder of my shows coming up in this beautiful month of May! If you'll be in the North Bay this weekend, I'm playing a solo gig in San Rafael on Saturday at the Mountain View Winery Tasting Room. Stop on by for a nice glass of wine and unwind with some music in this gorgeous weather!

Then I'll be playing a full band show next week, May 8th, at the lovely Brick and Mortar in San Francisco! I'm really looking forward to playing my first show at Brick and Mortar! Every penny from ticket sales goes to the Red Cross to help Hurricane Sandy victims on the East Coast, who still need our assistance. Let's show them that even though they're far-away neighbors, San Francisco cares and we still want to lend them a hand and give them some hope in the midst of everything they've lost.

Katie Garibaldi, the evenly measured sweet and edgy singer-songwriter and guitarist from the San Francisco Bay Area, proudly announces the release of her new single, “Baby We’re Really In Love,” a rendition of Hank Williams’ original song.This is definite new territory for the indie starling, who has only previously recorded and released original material up to this point.

“Last year I visited and toured in Nashville for the first time, which had been a long-time goal of mine since I first started performing,” says Garibaldi. “Being in such a historically musical-rich area, I was heavily inspired by the greats like Eddie Arnold, Tammy Wynette, and especially Hank Williams. I wanted to record a song to pay homage to such a monumental musical legend who’s had a powerful influence on me in my life, and most recently from my trips to Music City.”

Katie’s version of “Baby We’re Really In Love” indeed pays homage to the legendary country songwriter, but also delivers that “Katie Garibaldi” acoustic folk/pop-esque incomparable sound that her fans love her for. Garibaldi breathes new life into this memorable and catchy song. Michael Molenda, a noted producer, engineer, and editor-in-chief of Guitar Player magazine (and producer of Katie’s last album Next Ride Out), produced “Baby We’re Really In Love” at Potrero Post Studios in San Francisco, CA. “I came to Mike with the idea of recording a Hank Williams song. I was so excited about it, but still a little leery since I’ve never released a cover song before,” remembers Garibaldi. “We wanted to do it right, where we were respectful of Hank’s seamless songwriting and the old-school American country sound, but also put my stamp on it as an artist and make it a bit more modern-sounding. Happy New Year!

I just wanted to take a moment on the last day of this year to reflect on how grateful I am for the support I've had all year long, and what an amazing year it has been! I want to thank those of you who have come to my shows, connect with me on my social networks, help me with my career, and have been so supportive of my music in so many ways.

I have always loved writing songs and performing, and knew from a very early age that I wanted music to be a huge part of my life. I could not possibly have done half of what I've accomplished so far without your encouragement and support. And there's more to come! With all the competitive and negative attitudes that are out there, I'm thankful to be supported by so many positive people and so fortunate to be able to do what I love on my own terms as an indie artist. I couldn't ask for anything better! You let me shine!

It's truly been an amazing year of relentless and blissful touring, and after practically selling out (only a handful of copies left!) of my latest and sixth album, Next Ride Out, on the road (more albums have been ordered ;)), I'm ready for the new year! (I'll be kicking it off with a tour to SLO and SoCal right after the New Year!) 2012 will be a year of new recordings, new cities to perform in, and most importantly new fun adventures. And in the midst of everything, I'll be getting married! :D I'm so excited for it all!!

Can you believe it's already the end of the year?? It's a time to reflect on the year passed, and I can hardly believe how much has happened in 2011! From NAMM to Nashville, it's been one heck of a ride! SO many A+mazing things transpired this year and I'm so grateful for it all!

But...this year ain't over yet!! In fact, I have one of my biggest shows coming up TOMORROW in San Francisco at The Union Room! It's my distribution company, IDC's, big holiday concert bash and it's definitely not one to miss! I'll be playing with my band and will debut a new song! Word is this show is going to sell out quick that night so be sure to get there when doors open at 8pm--I'm on first. Be festive and come kick off the holidays with us! Hope to see you there!

My next 3 gigs are dedicated to the Squeaky Wheel Tour, a grassroots effort to help bring awareness to missing persons by 411Gina.org. I've been participating in this cause for the last few years and would love for you to support it as well.

Just a reminder, I'll be performing tonight at the Red Devil Lounge in SF, which is a benefit show for a worthy cause. Proceeds from the show will benefit a close friend of Castles In Spain, "Spor", who was hit by a car with a driver who has no insurance, and Spor had an amputation. The ticket sales from these shows will directly go towards Spor's medical expenses.
